2007년 데뷔 앨범 "라임" <바람에 너를>을 통해 낯설고도 독보적인 미성으로 주목받은 적 있는 정현우가
12년 만에 EP앨범 <아름답고 쓸모없기를>을 들고 돌아왔다.
익숙하지 않은 음색과 음악은 정현우만이 가지고 있는 신비로운 감성으로 풀어내고 있다.
<아름답고 쓸모없기를>은 '시인의 악기상점'이라는 이름으로 발매되었으며 총 세 곡이 담겨 있다.
타이틀곡 "아름답고 쓸모없기를"은 지금도 많은 독자의 사랑을 받고 있는 김민정 시인의 시 제목에서 가져온 노래로, 김민정 시인의 인터뷰를 읽던 중 "피었다 지는 일이 아름다운데, 참 쓸모없다는"는 내용에 영감 받아 작업하게 됐다.
잊혀져가는 슬픔이 당연한 것인지, 또한 살아 있는 이유는 무엇인지에 대해 묻는 가사와 소년과 어른 사이의 미성의 음색, 그리고 섬세하면서도 편안한 멜로디가 절묘하게 조화를 이루는 곡이다.
두번째 곡 "빛의 호위"는 살아있는 감각을 쉼 없이 묻고 있는 조해진 소설가의 동명의 소설에서 영감을 받은 노래이다.
고급스러운 세션과 멜로디가 특징인 곡으로 사랑하는 사람, 혹은 절대자에게 말하는 가사가 특징이며 가요와 클래식, 대중가요와 성가의 경계에 있는 듯한 크로스오버풍의 곡이기도 하다.
세번째 곡 "날개비"는 정현우 본인의 시 제목에서 가져온 노래로, 사라지는 것들의 아픔을 담고 있는 추모곡이다. 새가 되어버린 아이의 입장에서 읊조리듯한 가사가 애잔하고 뭉클한 감정을 불러 일으킨다.
이렇듯 수록곡 모두 시와 소설에서 영감을 받아 작업한 EP앨범 <아름답고 쓸모없기를>은 음악과 문학작품의 콜라보레이션이라 할 만하다.
시인이기도 한 정현우는 평소 좋아하던 문학작품에서 느낀 감정선과 정서를 음악에 담아 표현하려 했으며, 바로 이 지점이 ‘시인의 악기상점’의 음악적 정체성이기도 하다.
앞으로도 ‘시인의 악기상점’은 문학작품을 노래하는 음유시인으로 문학적인 음악, 음악 속의 문학성을 추구하는 독특하고도 아름다운 가요의 한 장을 일구어 나가려 한다.
[정현우 소개]
2007년 데뷔 당시 트레이드마크인 중성적이면서도 독특한 목소리 덕분에 수 많은 대형 가수들 속에서 음원차트에서 1위라는 작은 기적을 보여주었고 얼굴을 드러내지 않아서 '얼굴 없는 가수'로 불리기도 했다.
‘KBS 위대한 탄생’에서는 김연우에게 "한국에서 찾기 힘든 매력적인 목소리", ‘MBC 별이 빛나는 밤’에서는 BMK에게 "중성적이면서도 몽환적인 목소리", "이소라와 조관우를 섞어놓은 듯한한데 너무 다르기도 하다" 등 찬사를 받았지만, 본인의 진정한 음악성을 찾기 위해 데뷔 앨범 이후 음악 활동을 중단하게 된다.
12년의 공백 기간 동안 정현우는 조선일보 신춘문예에 시가 당선되면서(2015년) 시인으로 활발히 활동하면서도, 뮤지션으로서의 정체성을 잃지 않기 위해 꾸준히 음악 작업을 해왔다.
문학작품을 기반으로 한 여러 작업곡 중에서 세 곡의 노래를 먼저 선보이는 것이 이번 EP앨범이다.
정현우, 아니 ‘시인의 악기상점’은 이 앨범을 통해 이전까지 한국 가요계에서 찾아보기 힘들었던 ‘문학적인 음악’을 펼쳐 보이는 뮤지션으로 도약하려 한다.

1. Order cancellation
- Cancellation cannot be made after 12:00p.m. on the next day of the order date, though the shipment hasn’t begun.
- If the product hasn’t shipped yet, the cancellation can be made before 12:00p.m. on the next day of order date through email.
- When ordering through deposit, order cancellation before payment is done if payment isn’t made within 3 days.
- If cancellation is received/approved after shipping due to private reasons, then you must pay for round-trip delivery rate to your location.
2. Exchange/Refund
- Exchange/refund request can be registered through email within 7 days after delivery.
- The round-trip shipping rate is charged to the customer for exchange/refund due to customer’s private reasons.
- If refund is approved after request, then we will guide you in regard to the refund charge and round-trip delivery fees.
- If the product is different from our description/advertisement on the page, or you are eligible for exchange/refund due to product malfunction or wrong delivery, then the shipping rate for refund/exchange will be paid by our company.

3. Cases when refund is not possible
- When there is no product failure/wrong delivery
- When no description is offered for reasons for refund
- When seal/tag of the product has been removed

- When the refund date has passed
- When the product or its packaging is damaged
4. Delivery Information

- The international shipping price differs according to the weight and rate set by the shipping company (box weight included).

- Generally, delivery is completed within a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 10 business days after payment is completed.
