바이탈 디그리 (Vital Degree) EP [Romantique]

2021년 두 곡의 싱글을 발표한 Vital Degree가 Hybrid Visual Metal이라는 캐치프레이즈를 걸고 더 다양한 스타일의 음악을 담아낸 EP 'Romantique'.

1. Requiem V

 21살이라는 어린 나이에 뇌종양이라는 병마를 이겨내지 못하고 삶을 마감한 사촌동생 '이애정'양에게 바치는 헌정곡. 가사 내용도 그렇지만 Vital Degree의 시작을 알리는 곡이라 남다른 애착이 있다. 천국에서 보고 있을 그 아이를 아는 모든 분들이 이 노래를 들으며 조금이라도 위안을 얻기를…

2. 톱니

 2009년 즈음 만들었으나 2020년에 합류한 보컬 동천의 보컬이 만나면서 완전체로 탄생하게 된 곡. 당시 미국에 살던 지인의 남자친구가 자꾸 거짓말을 하는 것에 대해 화가 났던 감정을 가사로 풀었다. 사람의 신뢰관계는 한번 틀어지기 시작하면 다시 회복하기 힘들다는 내용을 담았다.

3. Romantique Tragédie

 식물인간이 된 남자가 자신을 간호해 주는 여자친구에게 더 이상 정상적인 사랑을 할 수 없음을 직시하고 비참한 심정을 반어법으로 표현, 이제 그만 자신을 놓아주라는 내용을 담은 Tragic Symphonic Metal.  Vital Degree의 정체성을 보여주는 곡이다.

4. 기억속으로

 2007년도에 만들었던 곡으로 시종일관 달리는 분위기에서 잠시 쉬어갈 수 있는 록발라드 넘버. 아련함과 좋은 기억이 공존하는 지나간 과거는 아름답다는 메시지를 가사에 녹여냈다.

5. 단심가

 앨범에서 가장 최근에 작곡한 곡. 첫 EP에서 표현하고 싶은 밴드의 정체성을 Romantique Tragédie와 함께 빠른 템포의 심포닉 메탈로 완성했으며 지인의 실제 경험담을 토대로 완성하였다. 70대의 노인이 납골당에 안치되어 있는 부인의 영정사진 앞에서 자신의 마음을 구슬프게 노래로 부르는 내용.

6. Requiem V Latin Style(Español)

 첫 싱글 Requiem V를 어쿠스틱 스타일로 편곡하고 스페인어로 부른 버전. 디지털 싱글 버전에선 어쿠스틱 기타로 선율을 연주했지만 이 버전에서는 남미 정서에 가깝도록 스페인어로 번역을 해 원작자인 Schevy Kim이 직접 불렀다.
