싱어송라이터 한희정이 17일 EP < Slow Dance >를 발매한다. 2009년 발매한 < 끈 >, 2010년 발매된 < 잔혹한 여행 > 이후 선보이는 세 번째 EP 앨범이다.
‘푸른새벽’ ‘더더’ 이후 2008년 발표한 정규 1집 < 너의 다큐멘트 >를 시작으로 솔로 활동을 시작한 한희정은 이후 2009년 첫 EP < 끈 >, 2010년 두 번째 EP < 잔혹한 여행 >, 2013년 정규 2집 < 날마다 타인 > 앨범을 통해 아티스트로서의 영역을 꾸준히 확장해왔다.
한희정의 표현에 따르면, 이번 앨범은 ‘숨 고르기 같은 앨범’이다. 편한 사운드의 트랙들로 채워진 < Slow Dance >는 느릿한 춤처럼 여유 있는 호흡으로 청자에게 다가간다.
앨범의 주제는 ‘느림’. 망각이나 관계의 느림을 선율의 반복을 통해 구현하고자 했다. 어쿠스틱 기타와 피아노 외에도 바이올린과 첼로 등 현악 선율이 각각 하나의 악기처럼 고유한 제 목소리로 오롯이 담겨 서정의 테두리 안에서 조금 더 넓어진 사운드의 스펙트럼을 선보이고 있다.
서늘한 가을의 정취와 더없이 잘 어울리는 한희정의 이번 앨범은 느린 몸짓과 속도로 서서히 청자를 압도해온다. 그저 하염없이 틀어놓을 수밖에 없는, 선뜻 정지 버튼을 누르기가 망설여지는 이번 앨범은 올 가을 당신의 귓가에 가장 오래도록 머무를 앨범이 될 것이다.

1. Slow Dance
발라드를 만든다면 어떤 결과물이 나올까 궁금해하며 만들기 시작한 곡입니다. 어쿠스틱 기타의 아르페지오가 시작되면 묵직한 드럼이 흐름을 받쳐줍니다. 보컬은 처연한 멜로디로 느린 망각의 고통을 이야기하고 있습니다.
2. 가능한 일
짝사랑을 하고 있는 사람이 상대에게 어떠한 제안을 하는 곡입니다. 반복적인 피아노 선율과 뚝뚝 끊어지는 비트의 드럼이 이 곡의 핵심입니다. 보컬은 뜻 없는 멜로디를 무심코 던지듯 노래하지만 처절할 따름이고, 양 옆의 현악기는 그 처절함의 그림자처럼 보컬의 뒤를 따라옵니다.
3. 그녀와 나
‘Slow Dance’가 망각의 느림을 노래한다면 ‘그녀와 나’는 관계의 느림을 노래합니다. 마치 형제처럼 곡의 구성이나 분위기를 비슷하게 배치하였습니다. 처음 본 그녀로부터 오래 전의 고통을 떠올리고, 그 고통을 안겨준 사람에게 증오를 토해내지만 곡의 분위기는 따뜻합니다. 어떠한 관계는 신물 나도록 느리게 반복되고 그로 인한 고통은 부질없다는 것을 그녀를 통해 깨달았기 때문입니다.
4. 순전한 사랑 노래
‘순전한 사랑 노래’ 는 순전히 사랑을 노래하는 곡입니다. 사랑을 속삭여놓고 약속도 지키지 않는 뻔뻔한 님을 노래합니다. 보사노바 풍의 따뜻한 사운드를 기조로 하는 이 곡은 간주에서 템포가 급격히 빨라집니다. 그때만큼은 느린 춤이 아닌 빠른 춤을 추시길 바랍니다.
5. 오래오래
‘오래오래’ 는 어쩌다가 같이 살게 된 고양이를 통해 세상을 다시 바라보게 되었다는 이야기입니다. 어쿠스틱 기타와 보컬의 단출한 구성에 오르간을 살짝 올렸습니다. 반려동물과 함께 사는 분들이라면 이 청승맞은 분위기를 이해하실지도 모르겠습니다만, 노래 만들면서 많이 울었습니다.

1. Order cancellation
